It was with deep regret and great sadness that the Board of Oban Bay Marine learned of the sudden death at the beginning of August of Donald Macdonald whilst on holiday with his family.
Donald joined the Board of Oban Bay Marine last year following the decision by Argyll and Bute Council’s Oban CHORD Project not to part-fund Oban Bay Marine’s proposals for a transit marina for the heart of Oban Bay.
The Board was undoubtedly strengthened by Donald’s appointment, and drew much from his guidance and support offered in his trademark cheerful and optimistic manner. We very much appreciated his practical sailing knowledge and understanding, and the project has benefitted much from his careful and thorough application and attention to detail.
We will greatly miss his staunch support and his quiet and calm determination to succeed, and send our deepest condolences to Dorothy and his family. We have lost a true friend to all who aspire to all that’s best for Oban and the surrounding area.
At the OBM AGM in March 2011, Special Resolutions were adopted to incorporate a Community Interest Company

by Shares, to be known as “Oban Bay Marine Community Interest Company “
Proposals adopted by way of Special Resolution :
a. That the name of the Company be changed from Oban Bay Marine to Oban Bay
Marine 2007
b. That on a date after the date of
incorporation of Oban Bay Marine Community Interest Company ,the Directors
be authorised to wind up the Company known as Oban Bay Marine 2007, and to
transfer its assets to Oban Bay Community Interest Co
