planning application

A planning application to install multi-use, short stay / transient 60 berth pontoons for Oban Bay lodged in June 2008, obtained all aspects of permission and concluded in November 2008.

 - Detailed planning consent from Argyll and Bute council

 - Dredging consent from FRS Marine Lab. In Aberdeen

 - Marine navigation and safety from Marine Coastguard Agency (Scottish Ex.)

Oban Bay Marine's plans to provide a short stay pontoon development in Oban was the highest scoring individual project in Argyll and Bute's Project Board for regeneration funds for the 5 towns of Argyll and was allocated a grant £900,000.

Meetings with other funding sources continue.

These proposed facilities

 - will be of considerable benefit to local boat users and operators

 - will be attractive to visitors

 - will bring money into the local community

 - and will also allow Argyll and Bute Council a unique opportunity to capitalise on Oban's exceptional marine location in the heart of the West Coast with its longstanding maritime heritage.
